I moved to California within the past year and am due for my 2nd annual for my 2024 8KCAB. I previously lived in CO and had a great experience with my local mechanic on the field where I was based last year but do not have the same situation currently.

I am looking for someone who has a lot of experience working with these aircraft and hopefully someone I can bring my airplane to at the end of the month. I do not know of anyone personally and I am willing to fly pretty much anywhere in California to get it done right and on time. If you have any information or contacts that could help that would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you!

Where are you now? - California is a relatively large state. Colorado might be just a teeny bit further than San Diego if you live in Alturas.

Aeromechanix in San Diego maintains a 2004 Dec, a 2002 GCAA, an older Scout, and a couple Citabriae.

Full disclosure: I am an honorary employee, and they take good care of me.

With a 2 year old airplane, I suggest a less formal inspection by an IA who works as an independent. If your aircraft is high time (closing in on the thousand hour mandatory wing strut bracket inspection) bring it down here. If you time it right, we will buy you a beer in the Stearman hangar.

If Screaming Eagle is still at Santa Paula, they are the true experts on ACA products.

Thank you for the information, the aircraft is just shy of 300 hours. I will look into Screaming Eagle and see if they are still at Santa Paula as that is much closer to SBA.

I know nothing about them. With 300 TT you should be given a flat rate, and there really shouldn't be any need for expensive corrective maintenance. Down here the flat rate is $1900, but annuals often go to ten grand.

For that kind of plane should be a pretty basic annual

Willems Aircraft Maintenance LLC out of KLPC might be worth a call, ask for Jeff, he owns a rather historic tube and fabric plane himself

Thanks for the help, I will reach out on Monday. Got some more information from a friend about a shop at KSZP, Ray's Aviation that specializes in aerobatic aircraft going to reach out to them on Monday as well.
