Adjusting toe-in?

I was always under the impression that shims were available to correct toe-in problems. Sure enough, paragraph 6-17 of the Bellanca Citabria Service manual discusses this, but no part # is given. Have any of you done this? Can camber be adjusted this way as well? Do we make our own shims? Or are they tapered plates?

I use cessna axle shims. And cessna maintenance manual has the procedure and part numbers lined out. Works perfect

Coming up with the correct wedges (tapered plates) was not a trivial project, at least for me.

It involved first measuring the existing alignment, remembering enough high school trigonometry to convert the measurements to angles, and then having access to a vertical milling machine, some precision shims and a digital protractor to fabricate the wedges. I lucked-out and had good success on the first try.

It might be possible to cut the wedges on two axis for also adjusting camber but that's way past my half-vast engineering talent.
