Hi all,

I actually need to get my CFI reinstated but was going to do an online renewal course as a means to review the knowledge base stuff. Is any one course much better than the others? Recommendations?

Thanks!

I use AceCFI. One time charge, then free unless, like me, you start feeling guilty and send them $ to do the paperwork.

The trick is to have an egg timer - you have to change the page every three minutes, and if you are doing something interesting (watching the Gong Show?) you might forget.

You can, apparently, print out the text, then double-check your answers before submitting - or just flunk a quiz now and then and be more careful the second time through. Either way, quick and painless, except for having to pay attention not to “time out.”

American Flyers is one of those that offers free renewals for life after the one-time fee, but you can always give them money at the end to make the process with the FAA smoother. You'll get from the online course as much as you choose to - check off the box, or actually study it in depth over a week.

I haven't compared it to other options.

I didn't see the box to check at American Flyers if you weren't actually using the course for the renewal so I ended up at AOPA's website and bought their course. So far it's pretty dry but it is getting my gears turning again so that's good.
