Removing the VOR Antenna?

Hi all

The hub of the VOR antenna is still in the vertical stab and I was thinking of removing it and the coax that goes to it. How is it fastened to the vertical stab? Does it come right out or does the fabric have to be cut?

I was in there to hook up a Balun, and even for that simple task it took two fabric patches. I failed to note how it was attached.

Mine is Butyrate, and I had a can of pigmented dope left over from the original cover. You cannot see the patches.

Mine was screwed in to a horizontal bar. I did have to cut fabric and patch it. But I'm poly-tone, so thats easy

Thanks, I thought it might be attached from the bottom up requiring a little cutting to get to it.

Would it be legal to 3D print a base to screw to the mount that 3D printed covers could be attached to? Like a 3 part 3D printed filler/cover instead of a fabric patch?

Mine is a ‘79 so dope, it seems.
