ABW says their tires need to go on a 6.00x6” rim(they sell a 40-75T replacement). The Scout rims are labelled 8.50x6” (40-47) but measure just under 6” bead to bead. Another Scout 250km east has 31” bushwheels on the stock rims. I don’t know the owner.

Photo with hubcap is my rim and measuring tape. Yellow and white Scout has same rims and is missing the hubcap but they are the same number.

So my questions are how wide is a 6.00x6” rim? You would assume a 8.50x6” rim would be 8.50” wide. Can a bushwheel be mounted on the Scout wheels? I understand the recommended spacers. 🙏

Are the Desser 22’s much different from standard 8.50’s? I see the weight rating on the tubed is a bit low but the tubeless ones are higher and say they can be run with a tube.

I wouldn't think tubeless would work on Cleveland wheels.

What is your mission? If it is just "big tires look gnarly" try the 26" Goodyears. They are a nice compromise. Most of my friends with giant tires operate exclusively on pavement.

Canadian aircraft so can’t do 26 Goodyears without an STC. I’ve explored most of the paved strips now it’s spring and the dirt strips are getting soft and bumpy. I would absolutely do this if I could. Cost benefit and wear it seems like a great middle ground.

I agree the tubeless tires can’t be run tubeless on Cleveland wheels but it says they may be run with a tube which would work but are they going to do any better than a standard 850 for reducing ground pressure and softening ruts? I'd hate to put on a tire that's more of the same but wears out quicker.

I like the desser 8.50. We used them a lot on t-carts and pacers. They are softer than standard 8.50s. and they wear well.

If a 8.50 diameter tire is sufficient for your needs, I think you'll like them.

My uneducated impression is that they do not make a 6:00x6 wheel. There may be different widths available, but most just mount whatever tire size they want.

The Grove kit for Piper is approved for 6:00 through 8:50 and Goodyear 26". Same wheel/brake for all sizes. We are currently running 8:00x6 on that kit (J3) with excellent results and good appearance.
