Under door kick plate 7AC

Is there such a thing as a kick plate or protection plate for the fabric under the door? I fly a lot of Young Eagles and they don't seem to be able to get in without kicking the fabric. The paint has a lot of spider cracks now. I would like to legally install something like an aluminum plate or maybe carbon fiber plate to protect this area.

I've seen them on a few planes and considered putting them on my Champ too. The issue is attachment, where to put the screws without screwing into structure.
