7FC questions

I have a 7FC converted to a tailwheel (7EC?) but it also had an engine conversion to an O-235. May be too different from what you have, but I would be glad to share what ever I know.

Sounds like a nice plane, but I am curious about tge stock 7FC. I don't have one, but am considering getting one. I have heard bad things and good things about the Trichamp and would like to get the facts from an owner of one before I decide.

I am a new owner of a 1958 7FC! Only a couple of months in one. I might not have a huge breadth of knowledge, but ask any questions if you're still looking at one. I know this post is a little old now.

To Bob Turner: I've considered the piper trikes but would prefer a tandem seat arangment.

I do have TD time in 7ac Champs and may just go that way if the TriChamp doesn't pan out.

To tfagrell: as a new owner you may well have a useful perspective. I 'd like to call you and pick your brain a bit. Could you email your phone# to me at [email protected] and suggest a convenient time I could call?

A nose wheel tailwheel plane?

If you want a tandem trike I’d get a yak

Actually the best choice would seem to be the xcub--except that it is too expensive and has too long a waiting list:

Hey there, my name is Steve and I just purchased a 1961 7FC serial #432. I bought it in Caldwell ID and flew it to Moriarty NM. I have flown at least a 1/2 hr every day. What would you like to know about them. I can share what I've learned through research and flying this one.

Hey Bill good to hear from you, I'm so glad to hear that she's gonna be fixed back up and flown. I flew her for 8 months and enjoyed every flight. What info would you like from me about the plane?
Steve

Steve I purchased Serial # 432 with intentions of a restoration. Can you provide any information on this aircraft?
Thank You....Bill

Steve I purchased 432 (airframe only) from a salvage co. for parts to use on a barn find I intended to rebuild. After looking it over I beleive it's a better project than the one I have. Is there any adverse history or damage I should be aware of? I have the Canadian and U.S. airframe logs plus airworthy certificate and a FAA bill of sale so I should be OK in that dept. Thanks
Bill

Bill I don't think there is a whole lot wrong on #432. I had a hard landing that slightly bent a few areas of the fuselage tubing and maybe the right main gear. It has the aluminum spars and ribs. About 4 gals an hour at 2300 rpm. A quart of oil every 6 to 7 hours. If I had had something to fly for the time being I would have fixed it myself. It is a sweet flying machine....... Steve

Can I rename this thread, "Official Aeronca 7FC Owners' Thread"?

You guys can post all of your questions and answers here so it'll be a resource for the next FC owner that stumbles in. :)
