I'm new, and practicing for my first competition (primary). I did my first aerobatic training sessions with an instructor who lives on the other side of the state, in a region largely unencumbered by federal airways, controlled airspace, and the other places where aerobatics are prohibited. When I'm at home, though, i am in a pickle because I live in a part of the state where I've got a federal airway and ocean on one side and a steep mountain range on the other, with vey little space in between. The one clear spot within 30 minutes of flying is an airport with class E to surface taking up pretty much all of the land that isn't mountains (KTMK). A few months back, i heard rumor that there was once an established aerobatic practice area nearby, but I can't remember where I heard it. So here's my question: is there some sort of database that the FAA maintains where one can look up a complete listing of permanent designated practice areas? The AFD doesn't seem to have this information. Sometimes it's noted o the sectional in rudimentary form with the "glider-and-an-A" symbol, for example at KCVO, but that doesn't seem to be reliable. Any thoughts?
