My Citabria has a com, X-ponder, ADSB out, a handheld GPS, and, in addition to the required VFR steam gauges, an electric T&B to accomplish a 180 out of a cloud. That allows me VFR flight following and routine passage through Phoenix and Salt Lake City Class Bravo airspace. It's all I need, panel wise, to enjoy the airplane immensely.
That being said, "Different strokes for different folks". One of the great things about our aviation passion is that we have a fair amount of freedom to do it "our way".
