Clipwing Champ ???

Champ is 36ft wingspan, Citabria is 33ft... with a different end profile. Hypothetically, if you're doing all this, you end up with a lighter weight, non-aerobatic, lower HP version of the '65-67 bellanca citabria...?

That's a great point. I asked years ago about the potential for a clipped wing Citabria, the answer I got, Decathlon. True story but I still love the idea!
