That doesn’t look that bad at all

Wing took me a minute to look at in one of the photos, the cradle made it look funny, but looks like just minor fuselage/fabric damage and a light prop strike

A little surprised they totaled it, but liability and all that
 
Total depends on what it was insured for. New prop, engine teardown and magnaflux, fabric work at $180/hr. Cars are now being totalled for minor fender benders.

But if floorboards were broken, sounds like major welding in a jig. Cheaper to buy a new fuselage.

My ancient 1966 Mustang convertible was hit from behind. Minor body work. Progressive said they would total it and give me six grand (20 years ago, when the car was worth maybe 15).
Fortunately, California has a statute - if somebody else is at fault you can demand that your car be fixed at a facility of your choice, plus a rental car.
