Fabric separation - belly and wing root

If it is not more than a quarter inch wide, the dope will bridge over it if it doesn't actually stick. Sand it first ith 320 wet?
 
I'll post some pics later this week. They brushed the general area with it as a "topcoat". It is several inches wide.
