Hello, I am a new member. I own (with a partner) a 1994 8KCAB. We need to install a door on the aircraft. We now have a new door from ACA, but are unsure of how to install it. Specifically, the hinges are not installed on the door. When the door is placed in the door frame, and the hinges are fixed to the emergency release mechanism, the upper hinge can be brought even against the door surface, but the lower hinge sticks out far from the surface of the door.
Does anyone have any experience fitting doors to these aircraft?
My experience is that Citabria, Scout, and Decathlon doors have a little spring to them and will pop open when unlatched. Is the arrangement of the hinges a deliberate method of causing the door to flex when closed? Or is there something else going on?
