Slack forward stick

I saw the bushings listed at Univair for $32 each. I don't know if that is for a set of two or not, I would assume a set but call to make sure. You'll need two per stick socket. There is no shim for the stick to socket on the top, it should be a tight fit with a long AN 3 bolt.
The original part numbers are, AN 2550 for the side stick socket bushings. AN 945-6P for the large washers, and a AN 6-25 bolt. If you're going to replace the bushings replace the bolt too.

If you hold the rear stick fixed and try to move the forward stick, is there any fore/aft slop?

It isn't an expensive part and if you're already going to be in there, it's worth replacing it. It is only a piece of tubing with the ends flattened and drilled and two bolts going through it for pivot points so it is susceptible to wear.

I’ll check that, I think I had a small amount of slop in the forward stick all the way around

How much of a PITA is getting to these bits?

Thanks

Seats come out, rug, floorboards, might have to undo a rudder pedal spring ot two to get the floorboards out. It’s a great opportunity to inspect the belly fabric, controls hardware and stuff, vacuum out the junk that accumulates, remove any pens or other garbage that might be in there and to also renew the feel of the flight controls.

A really worn interconnect tube will make the controls feel like there is a big center dead zone in pitch, especially at slower/approach speeds.

Last time I took the control assembly out of a Champ, we opened up the bottom of the boot cowl and brought it all out forward without removing the floor boards.

The consensus from my trusted APIA is I’m picking nits on the amount of slop in the controls, I’ll probably leave well enough alone for now shy of a published tolerance

Floor is out of the 8KCAB I brought home last week. I don’t think the whole controls job can be done from the boot cowl, fwiwIMG_5110.webpIMG_5108.webp
