8KCAB Tires and Wheels

Yep. Falcon bearings - teeny things; probably the inners are Decathlon-sized. It is the small outers that die - they are almost as small as Scott tailwheel bearings.

I know, was just being an ass. The Mustang that I have been charged to maintain and store, at no cost to the owner (my parents), got both ends overhauled in the last few years so I'm familiar! And it still hasn't been driven regularly in years!

@EJWash were all of your questions answered about doing a tire change?

Sorry for the delay in response, Bartman. Had to take my wife out to the islands to thaw her out from the PWN winter.

Before I split town, I ordered and received a Bogert jack pad so I could jack up my plane. Since the tire was flat, I had to lift it in order to remove the wheel pant. Removed pant, removed the caliper, the cotter pin, and off came the wheel/tire. Took it home, and that's as far as I got. Ordered new cotter pins, grease, and screws for pant (old ones mangled) talc, and tubes. I figure since one wheel went south, may as well tend to both of them.

Yes, I have gotten some tips and insight here in this thread. I haven't cruised You Tube yet to see if there are any step-by-step videos. I'll have tome for that later this week. Also, I still don't know how to go about cleaning the wheels (hubs) themselves. I also have to find torque values for the wheel half bolts.

Although, I now know where to come if I need any help if I ever (NOT gonna happen!) get a '67 Mustang...
