I have decided to just get my Decathalon flying. Tired of not having an airplane. I might need to patch and area on the wings. They are an early set of ACA wings. What did they use for covering and finish on the wings?

If you are looking at 54L, the best thing would be to scuff the surface where you will make the repair, then use Ceconite or Stewarts fabric, Stewart's glue (similar to 3M-30N), Stewart's Eco-fill, which can be sanded wet for a nice finish and little edge showing, and coat with almost anything that would match your original paint.

What you want to avoid is heavy paint buildup, such as what happens when you shoot another catalyzed coat of Delstar on the entire wing. Take a look at the fuselage - those tapes are over some truly hideous cracks, yet when delivered the tapes were intact. The white on the fuselage is Aerothane. That whole combination sat outside for over five years.

Yup, 54L.
I decided I am going to try and get it through an annual anf go have some fun for a year or so before it gets recovered.
I sm going buts having broken airplanes and nothing to fly.

Smart. Nothing wrong with that airplane. Be sure to show your mechanic the SL on leading edge corrosion. I was pretty happy with it when I delivered it - faster than my 180 Dec.
