I am being told that the Service Manual for the metal spar Citabria has a 4.2 section, mandating inspection of the inner landing gear leg bolt at 1000 hours.
ACA only sent the single page above - anybody with a recent Citabria Service Manual see the requirement? Did they use a separate page for 4.2? It is not in the type certificate.
Edit - just got a look at a 2001 Decathlon Service Manual. The Airworthiness Limitations section is there, but it is something like Section IX - the last one in the manual. There is an entire page devoted to the mandated lift strut bracket inspection, and not a single word about landing gear bolts.
Note that the above page from the 2011 Citabria manual is dated 2013, so presumably the Chicago ACO decided a less complicated description is appropriate. I do not own a late model ACA bird, and probably will not be more than peripherally involved in any inspections of such aircraft, so I won't be purchasing expensive Service Manuals.
But the fact remains - if these things are important, they should be in an AD, so they apply to all serial numbers.
Still opinion, of course.
