I love that Oratex look. Already painted correct? Does it really save labor?
 
@Goodyear yes, pre-finished. To be honest, I’ve never done any other fabric. So it’s hard for me to say but I would think so.

As I understand with legacy systems, you’d still have to glue, cut out all the hinges, gear attach point, etc., shrink, put on finishing tapes. All that’s the same but with Oratex at this point it’s done. With legacy at this point you’d still need to prime a bunch of cross coats, Sand between, shoot paint. That being said, my guess would be that it does save labour.
But, I don’t have much experience with fabric in general so keep that in mind. Lol!

How did the finish product turn out using Oratex? Any thought's on the trials and tribulations along the way?

Interesting, had a long chat with the Owner who supplies Oratex in North America and lives in Alaska. They commissioned a 3rd Party for the STC's for all the ACA products, sadly the 8 series were overlooked. In the case of the Scout you can have field approval with the FAA as a work around. In Canada, Transport Canada doesn't offer that option, so Oratex is not an option.

At one time Oratex was very competitive and when you took the reduce time to install and the fact that its non toxic was very compelling.

In our case we settled on Stits with a Poly Tone Finish, old school but it seems to work. Yes, its toxic!

Oratex Fabric for a Super Cub is quoted at $10,700.
