Hand Propping a 65 Solo!!

Always somebody around - I have heard of folks grousing about how i start the Cub. Where you need to be really careful is those Mooneys with "shower of sparks."

Your student can figure out a semi- safe way of starting all by himself - just tell him not to do it, but in an emergency . . .

My Chief students made me a tiedown rope as sketched above. They use theirs all the time when I am not around to help.
 
Went out and flew it this morning, used the chock on a rope trick which worked ok but man, that big throttle knob is like a knee magnet as you're getting in!
So how did you like the Chief?
Did you loop or roll it?
I help take care of a 1939 Pre-war Chief (65C)...just a hoot to fly. The absolute definition of old skool...
