Has anyone here started a flying club with a Citabria type plane?

May I suggest that no hand propping as we have lost 3 planes on our field over the years due to this. As for aerobatic maybe make the rule only with instructor and limited maneuvers as this will make much better pilots. After all this is part of the plane’s purpose.

Bruce,
We decided to make electric start, ADS-B, and hard wired radios/intercom requirements for whichever airplane we buy. Unfortunately this rules out most Champs and drives the prices up a bit but we figured it was worth it for members and better for the club.

We had a first meeting on Saturday, five of us are ready to move forward with it so we're looking for a plane. We probably won't authorize acro either, it introduces too many unknowns into the program but we are trying to accommodate up to two student pilots at a time so long as it doesn't impact the insurance premiums too much.

I think there was one here in Alaska. I believe they had 2 7GCBCs. I feel like it was something like 5 or 6 members only. No idea who or if its still out there.

Bart, I am still doing maintenance for the two flying clubs here with Citabria's, one of which has two Citabria's and the other has one with other aircraft types. I have been involved with them for twenty years and I have some stories for sure. If we can do it here you can do it anywhere! I believe you and I spoke a few years back on this subject. If I can be of assistance again, please give me a call or P.M. me.

Brian
