Hi Gang. New member with my recent purchased Champ

what engine do you have?

I don't know champs well, but I do know t-carts. I imagine that the fuel systems are very similar. I agree that the aux wing tank draining into the main tank is a separate issue, that would not affect engine operation as long as the main tank has fuel. The main tank will have a separate venting system as described above.

This is more me thinking out loud, head scratcher for sure
I hope I answered your question on the type engine. Its an 85-8.

Lion8,
Did you get your problem solved? If so, what was wrong? Of course this question assumes a successful test flight...

In case the test flight was NOT a success and you are dead you need not reply...

Hoping for a reply.
Chris

Hey Chris. Bit of an update on getting my Champ to N.J. from Fl. Been real busy helping a good friend getting some color on his new cowlings for his Super Cruiser. Got that done and with the weather getting nice, I have nothing left to do but fly it. I had the carb rebuilt (no issues there), put new flex fuel lines on, drained and bore scoped both fuel tanks. Everything looking good.

that's a classy looking Champ! I'll be looking forward to seeing you at our meet-up sometime later this spring. It will probably be at Wildwood-Cape May

Hey Bart & Hipe.
I’m so looking forward to getting back to fly in’s. Please let me know when you are going to any of them.
I used to love to fly out to Shreveport North every year for the two and a half day fly in, and Massey,Md.
As for my Champ issues, besides replacing the flex lines with new, scoping the tanks, etc, I put the wing tank cap
back on that got us from Fl. to Virginia. Going to replace that one with a Ram Air tube type when it comes in.
It just bugs me that there was no smoking gun found. Tom, Southern N.J. (Lion8)

Why don't we pick a day for May and start getting the word around? I can call the airport tomorrow to see if there are any issues with us showing up as a group. Bathrooms, food, water, fuel, tie-downs......anything else?

(contingent on NJ pandemic protocols of course)

Hey Guys. Its Mothers Day 2021 and its a 'no airplane play day'. Update on the Champ. Got 12hrs. on it and no issues so far. Have not used the aux. tank yet. I did purchase a Univair ram air cap for the Aux.tank. The vents in the main cap are open and clear. Will keep you up to speed as the journey continues. Lion8 from 28n in South Jersey.
