WW2 Trainer rudder paint scheme

I had a little AA1B Grumman painted up like a Mustang from the 325th FG (The Checkertail Clan)...I don't have any pictures left of it but there are some on the web. N9679L. People were forever wanting to get their pictures taken sitting in the cockpit at flyins.
It might look good on a Citibrithon...

I don't have to do anything, just playing around now.

Most likely I'll just paint the damn thing solid federal yellow and be done with it.

photoshop the leading edge of the vertical stab down through the fuselage and paint everything aft of that line blue with white/blue on the rudder.

Ed, mock up the yellow and blue checkerboard on both the rudder and the elevators...

Bartman, that was my first AA1. Absolutely loved that plane. Thanks for the pic. And I agree; that P40 is beautiful.
And when I get MY 7AC covered and painted ya'll feel free to give me crap about it. Quid pro quo and all that...

I think you should go back to the first try, re-align the red stripes parallel to the fuselage stripes, spread them out as you discussed, and show us again. The original was too busy and too "up-swept."

I'm thinking desert camo starburst on wings/tail/fuselage, diamonds on vertical stab and rudder, then shark on the nose with a red spinner. I have a Citabria rc model that needs to be covered and a new sense of urgency to get it done. lol

You could always paint it like an Ugly Stik (he says, smirking)...

My new N number for the Aeronca is N125RB.
Richthofen has always been one of the top three figures in Aviation history. 20210503_223709.webp
Oil painting a friend gave me long ago

Of course, I expect the Aeronca purists to absolutely vapor lock when they see it but hey, WTH.

first of all, @Big Ed , sorry for the extreme thread drift!

Chris, are you going to paint it red to keep with the theme?

Red, white, black trim and Maltese crosses.
And a 5' tall Snoopy as the back seater...

And to bring this thread back to Ed;
Now that you know what I intend with my paint scheme you know better than to take my advice about ANYTHING paint related...
