Beautiful Decathlon! Congratulations!
That’s pretty damn cool, we’ll be waiting for the pics when it happens.Erroneous pirep led me to fly into the Cascades looking to land on a glacier gravel bar.
Oh, I’ve been before a few times. Always somebody getting slung out on the end of a longline. Notice the Christmas tree tied to the tail for directional stability - not his first rodeo. That’s pretty damn cool, we’ll be waiting for the pics when it happens.![]()

Astoria has a pleasant FBO and a long runway. Enjoy!had a quick window away from inlaws.. snuck out for a xc over to bellingham! lake whatcom, mt. baker, class D, san juans, oh my!!
plane ran great. had my first land back after the engine cowling top door popped open due to loose trigger latch.
great flight! though i was legal w/ 91.509 - being over water is a little daunting. i will rethink my ditching kit..
moses lake or astoria next..
Seaside is really close to my home field, so I went to land there last year. Deceptively short! I had to do my first (surprise) go around in years.thought about Astoria - opted for Seaside instead (buddy lives in Gearhart).. lessons learned in Seaside after two go-arounds.. small field= tight!
but great experience piloting in there.
great XC flight. some lessons learned there and on the way back.
*cell phone charger
