I'm not a very experienced tailwheel pilot, and when I started flying the decathlon a few months ago, i remember thinking, "wow, wheel landings aren't as hard as I remember them being". I just assumed at the time that I was getting better at them, but this and the other discussions on this site about decathlon landings makes me wonder if I'm just flying an airplane that likes wheel langdings. Finally got out and flew 46B again today after flying it home more than a month ago! I didn't get any photos but it flew great and oil pressure in sustained inverted flight was comparable to upright flight.
I have to ask though, is it me or do Decathlons just seem like they want to wheel land more than Citabrias? Maybe I'm just flying the pattern too fast but I've been wheel landing it which is weird for me because I never wheel land tailwheel airplanes!
I'll get pics next time.![]()
Flew a slightly faster plane than my 7GCBC up to the Wives' family Thanksgiving. My wives' family lives just a few miles from the American Champion factory. I want to make the trip up here in the Citabria one day and fly into the ACA airport.

I agree. It has ruined a lot of great airplanes for me ha. 2100shp and 5,000lbs+ of useful will spoil you.Great flying airplanes! My first commercial gig was in a 1900D, just an amazing airplane to fly around in while getting paid.![]()
Sorry for asking what has probably already been discussed... did you finally pull the trigger on getting that Citabria flying club up and running via this airplane, or is this a personal acquisition?Brought her home today. Met the owner at 0630 and was on my way by 0730 from Lakeland, FL, stopped in Statesboro, Ga, Lynchburg, VA and landed back at the home field (N85) by around 1830 just as the sun was setting. About 9.4 total flying time!
first AM in Lakeland

Okefenokee swamp is huge, the picture doesn't do it justice. It's one of those places you hear about but then I saw its name on the chart and took a pic

Falwell Airport just north of Lynchburg, VA, land uphill to the west and takeoff downhill to the east! I stopped there becuase it looked like food might be close to the airport but had no idea the runway was pitched at five degrees!
