I took a little cross country trip yesterday from North Texas down to the Texas Hill Country. Fredericksburg (T82) has a very nice hotel on the field. Had a nice view of Enchanted Rock State Park on the way back this morning.

I did fly today, but thought you might be interested in my ground project for Sept/Oct. This is the lower right wing of the Stearman - wing itself was supplied by Rare Aircraft. Some suggestions on rib stitching from Big Sky Stearman. Cover and paint by me.

DSC03263.webpDSC03262.webpNote the Cub wheels on the dolly - and note the Budge car cover bags protecting them! Budge sold me some covers for my Mustangs six years ago, guaranteed for seven years. They have been good as gold in replacing them as the sunlight turns them into powder every two years - and this time they sent me bags! Perfect for over-spray shields!

I'd like to see it flying early in November. I think the driver is I should have ordered the urethane top coat earlier. I will do the white coat this afternoon. I am hoping Air Tech got my sample and can mix AN Yellow next week.

The rotator is Wag Aero, but much modified. It has so far done one Cub wing, two Taylorcraft wings, and this one.
Necessary are the steel bars connecting both ends. Also necessary are giant vees where the hoop needs guidance. The little wheels are for careful shop movement, and the big wheels, along with diagonal braces, allow movement around the airport.

The rotator, and the Croix HVLP system, have dramatically changed how I do wings.

LAX and the new LA Stadium. This morning.

This thread is depressing me. I am enjoying the building process, but realizing that I am probably going to go a year without flying really sucks.
