What did you do to your bird today?

Rigged up a simple air deflector so the rear heat gets directed at the rear passenger instead of hitting the bottom of the seat and cooking the back of my legs.

I had never viewed my newly purchased plane from the outside while running until recently. Turns out it has a small but noticeable amount of spinner wobble. Investigated why. Tried to loosen all screws and adjust spinner toward the “low” side. That helped a bit but then ran without the spinner and the real issue is the backplate doesn’t run exactly true. My A&P and I decided it was slight enough it’s not worth doing anything about. So just going to do a dynamic balance and carry on. Anyone else experience this?

Worked on making the wheel pants hardware standardized. Had a mix of screws, nuts and inserts. I installed wellnuts for the three aft plate screws.

While I was lounging on the floor, the wife tried out some Wash Wax All cleaner to get some of the bugs off. Seems to work well!

Are you sure the valve stem additions will not put excessive twisting moments on your valve stem?

One fairly good way of monitoring tire pressure is to look at them during preflight. Mine start sagging around 15 psi, but you can tell at 20.

Brought home a set of factory original wings from a 1979 Super D with ailerons and fuel tanks.

I may build up a new set with Rainbow spars and then do the fuselage when the wings are ready. Might just pass them along to another builder in need, not sure yet.

Spotty frost in the forecast for tonight. Figured I should start thinking about winter. Ski fittings next.

Replaced the springs in the oil door Hartwell latches. Apparently they've been broken since it was covered and painted in 2017.
